John Denver speaks at the 1991 Windstar ‘Choices For The Future’ Symposium, in celebration of the life of his friend the late Buckminster Fuller. Richard Buckminster ‘Bucky’ Fuller (July 12, 1895 – July 1, 1983) was an American architect, author, designer, inventor, and futurist. Fuller published more than 30 books, inventing and popularizing terms such as “Spaceship Earth,” ephemeralization, and synergetics. He also developed numerous inventions, mainly architectural designs, the best known of which is the geodesic dome. The clip ends with John singing ‘What One Man Can Do’, a song he wrote about Buckminster Fuller on his 85th birthday.

This is why we love John amd miss him so. This song and, the story of his relationship with Bucky first came to me via Werner Erhard and the EST seminars, which came to New Zealand. Wow. Special times. Thanks again, Michael, for all your postings. Too much =)

@jasipospisilka I must confess that I knew very little about Buckminster Fuller myself. I have done some further research and learned how truly extraordinary he was. You will find an interesting article about him on Wikipedia.

Most of the Windstar recordings are that way. I suppose they were trying to conserve electricity. In no way does it take away from how special it is to be able to relive this moment when John speak so highly of his friend, Mr Fuller. I’m glad you found this!! I’m even happier that you shared it!!
Thanks again, Michael!!!

@jdstillshines Thank you too! I am really pleased that you like it.
It is also sad that the video is so dark throughout, and it does seem to get worse.

I’ve only heard parts of this speech so, as you can imagine, it’s a pleasure to hear it in its entirety.
Thank you for posting this Michael!
