I’ve got 2010 and it seems to be there. Make sure the drop down list at the top-left corner is set to polygons

using to f8 command on my mac keyboard doesn’t seem to be working. not even after combining it with fn. what is another way i can get to the component mode?

I need some help, for some reason after I turn back to the object mode (F8) and go over to Mesh -> Smooth, it doesn’t do anything :S

Sounds like it was “soft selection”.

You must have hit a wrong key or button…

Unfortunately, I could only help you with 3DS Max, I’m just starting with Maya… But the orange-yellow colour and the whole object moving, that is soft selection.

Hi, at around 2:09 of this video after I hit select- Vertex, the grid surroundng my box turns orange/yellow. When I use the tool to manipulate the box the whole box moves around off axis. Some curvature occurs but with the box moving everywhere its hard to control the object. Please can somebody help?

I’m not gonna lie…you sound like a generic version of Jeff Goldblum. That being said, I am thoroughly enjoying your tutorials, and I hope they help me learn Maya enough so that when I begin an animation school (if they ever accept me), I won’t be out of the loop.

Hit the ‘fn’ key when you use f8. It took me a while to figure that one out, too.

I agree. There’s beauty in some imperfections as well as personality.
Everything is too polished these days, with autotune, photoshopping and all that.. meh i say.

the guys you mentioned have all good musical ear. they don’t sing technically but they also rarely sing out of tune. Or if they do, they do it deliberately. Cave does it often. Especially at the concerts.

inaccuracies? yes he’s not technically a good singer but along with cohen, dylan, macgowan, waits, cash, he hits people in a way that the professionals just can’t. personally i find the “good singing” in modern music i.e. American Idol fucking repulsive.

But then again, maybe because it’s not perfect is the reason why a lot of us like it. It’s distinct and he sounds like nobody else. When I hear Cave’s voice I know it’s him. And I like that.

You can like him or not, actually I do. I find his voice very nice. But he’s singing is not very good and it’s a fact. He just sings out of tune too often. There are plenty of singers who do it less frequently.

good song, bad singer. once I first heard him he sounded great to me. The more his songs I know the more inaccuracies I find.

The Good Son was the first CD I got of Nick Cave and I’ve been hooked ever since. One of the greatest artists of our time. And this song is still one of my favorites. Just can’t get enough of it.
