Whether you are renovating or buying a new house, having the correct paint is essential. This should not be limited to color but also the chemical content of the paint as well. Excessive exposure to VOC can caused various health issues such as headache and allergy. VOC is also a contributing factor to an environmental degradation as it causes the green house gas.
APEO-free. APEO is an abbbreviation of Alkylphenol Ethoxylate – chemical commonly used in detergent, cleaning products, and paint. In paint production, APEO is used as an additive to enable cost cutting. Paint that contains APEO may caused hormonal imbalance, affecting human reproduction system, and fetus. The World Health Organization (WHO) already categorized APEO as carcinogenic, a triggering factor of cancer.
In addition, APEO is also non-degradable, meaning it cannot be completely degraded as a waste. Some components of this substance is a pollutant to water and/ or air. Its vapor also considered to be toxic, a threat both to human’s health as well as the environment.
