Either you just finished renovating or just moved into a new house, the common problem is the smell of new paint. The smell of new paint is sometime too strong due to its chemical component and it can be dangerous to your health. The symptoms may range from nausea and dizziness, vary from one people to another.
Now, the main idea of getting rid of the smell is to provide something stronger or something to absorb that smell. Vanilla powder and/ or vanilla essence is one of the most common elements used. You can poor some drops of vanilla essence into the paint. Stir thoroughly then apply it to the wall.
If you finished painting, you can put some vanilla powder into some bowls and put them on the corners of the room that you just painted. You can add the number of bowls based on the dimension of the room, the bigger the room – more bowls needed. You can switch the vanilla powder with coffee powder as well – nice alternative if you are a caffeine addict.
You can also use some fruits to replace the smell of paint with a refreshing scent; pineapple or orange peel for example, is a good alternative for this purpose. Other, much simpler alternative is a mix of water and salt. Put this ‘cocktail’ on some bowls just like you do with the vanilla or coffee powder.
Other thing that you can do is opened up all the windows and doors when you finished painting the wall. Let the fresh air comes in and exchange the strong smell of the paint. By doing this, you will speed up the drying process and getting rid of the smell at the same time. Then, you can really enjoy your house, with new atmosphere coming from the fresh paint, minus the smell.
