A headboard is a part of your bed, usually consist of a separate unit used as a decoration point to the overall design of the bed. Now, rather than keeping it merely as decorative piece, why don’t we try to make the headboard to be more useful?
Start with several different ideas for your headboard. Yet, keep the design to be in line with the whole design of your bedroom. Don’t make the headboard too complicated while the overall design of the bedroom is simple and elegant. Rather, keep the design to be simple and elegant too, focusing on its function and usefulness. Color selection is the key here.
Also, if you want some functions added to your headboard, keep them to be just enough functions. As an example, perhaps you want to use the headboard to store your favorite readings plus some space for a digital clock and small things (glasses, MP3 player, etc.). These are fine as they won’t need extra room and fitment to the headboard. Yet, if you want to put your CD collections, mini audio, bed side lighting, etc. – they are simply too much.
Once you have decided the design and the function (s) you want from the headboard, the next thing on your list is about the material. As in color, the best way to do will be using the same material with the rest of the bed or the other furniture in the bedroom. However, if you want the headboard to be some sort of key point in your bedroom, you can use different color and material.
Function (s) that you expected from you headboard surely determine the type of material. If you want it to store your favorite ‘go to bed’ readings, you can use wood. On the other hand, if you want to install the mini audio system and your CD collections, stronger materials or stronger construction as well as fitment are necessary.
