In thisvideo I give a full in depth tour of a 1998 Ford Explorer Sport. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this suv while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this suv designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

@jwjustlookin I’m pretty sure if you start the car with the door open, it will make that sound after the start up chimes, as you have described. I hope this helped.

@saabkyle04 The last long chime only sounds if the door is open as you’re starting the car

@jwjustlookin I think its just something telling you the chime is done or something. It happens on all Fords of the time, pretty much. Who knows it is weird though isnt it?

@saabkyle04 I drive a 1999 Explorer, and that little blip after the system check chime is just the door ajar chime, so you were right Kyle.

I just bought a 1999 Explorer Sport yesterday. My first car! It’s slightly different this, different wheels, full center console and armrest, sunroof, and different seat pattern. But it’s not as good as condition as this.

I’ll make a video eventually.

@jwjustlookin I dont think its any thing, I had a 95 and it did the same thing, I think its to warn you your seat belt isnt on.

@jwjustlookin I have this exact car. The chime is just from the door being opened while the car is on.

@jwjustlookin I believe it’s used to describe a warning light, in this case, door ajar.

Like I said before, I really loved these SUVs and I find that they look so nice and also I must say that it is in very pristine condition.

@saabkyle04 Not sure, but I believe that’s just an onboard diagnostic. The beeps might be different if the diagnostic found something wrong.

I could be wrong, though. That’s just my guess.

@saabkyle04 That’s basically a chime for when ever a light on the dash comes on, like, if any of the doors are open it will be like that, my explorer does the same thing.

That chime right after starting the engine is just to remind you that the door is open. It will do the same thing if you open the door with the engine running. It doesn’t mean that anything is wrong. I had a ’00 Explorer that did the same thing.
